Sympa HR system helps Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company to play it safe
Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company has been using Sympa HR since the autumn of 2008. ‘Varma previously had a human resources system, but in recent years a clear need emerged for a modern, user-friendly HR system. We needed a system that would be extensively available to everyone at Varma,’ says HR Manager Raija Lehto. ‘Furthermore, our aim was to convert our HR processes into electronic format while enhancing their efficiency, and providing supervisors with a well-functioning HR management tool,’ continues Ms. Lehto.
Pauliina Koivula, HR Developer, says that since the system’s introduction, its contents have expanded continuously, into the highly versatile package now in use. Sympa provides tools for managing staff employment data, managing employee performance and supporting competence development. We have had our development discussion and job description forms in Sympa right from the start. The latest additions include performance target forms and competence profiles. For a year already, Varma employees have been using Sympa to enrol for training.
’We use Sympa on an everyday basis at Varma and have transferred responsibility for updating many issues to the employees themselves. To us, Sympa is highly user-friendly and allows us to maintain staff data in one place and up-to-date at all times. Information also transfers with the employee, for instance when there is change of department or supervisor. Sympa HR serves staff, supervisors and the HR unit throughout the employment lifecycle,’ adds Pauliina Koivula.
According to Raija Lehto, the future goal is to develop the system further and make Sympa into a centralised human resources system whose information is also utilised in business systems. ’The system has met our expectations outstandingly well. Because Sympa provides us with rapid, expert support, we can play it safe within HR management.’
